I have a plan, no, not one, many...

From years of experience in planning stuff, I have realised that jotting down a plan in black and white is the best, someone can do to provoke murphy's laws! But this time, I'm going to do some real provoking! "The discipline of writing something down is the first step towards making it happen", heard this somewhere. Well, this is far from correct, unless its about something which has nothing to do with fun. So, I have a plan. oops. not one, many!
Here It goes...
It's a trip... A trip to the south!
No, not my home, no where near that. This is one idea which is totally nomadic b'coz i still haven't booked my tickets to travel almost 7500kms.
Though I am not sure of the number of days or places that'll be there in the trip, i have few milestones there...
The First and the most important one is to surprise my favorite Beena aunty in chennai... She's is next to my mom and really so sweet! The sole purpose of me taking a camera for the trip will be to catch that expression of hers when she sees me. That'll be great. I can feel that. In Chennai, I have a birthday party to crash land. Well, I'm not sure if they're having a party for my friend's b'day there. That's plan 2. If not, might have to arrange something. Friends appearing in person is the best B'day surprise someone can get!! Meeting Ram there will be plan 3 in chennai. He is having my fruit beers from Germany!! :) very very important! b'coz of that, can't make it a surprise, else would have thought of it!
The train from chennai should reach bangalore at around 6 in the morning! Well, Indian Railways, be it 7... Give a surprise to Binu chechy in the morning, Fix a drink with Anish acha in evening, meet my school buddy, meet "my biggest source of positive energy and best friend forever"...aaand the jacks... Somewhere in my mind, I don't want all these to happen, because if it does, I will miss my return flight to Delhi.!

The Nine Commandments

There are days which are hectic... And then there are days which are so hectic that you forget to breathe...
I'm in those days now... My office is so not a govt. office in character... I not only have a plan to complete my work on time, on time is 9-5.30, but i also leave some extra time for some work which is lost and eventually ends up in my table! This is particularly to hold on to the principles "I always have time for whatever i like to do" and "i'm never so busy that i can't take any extra task" ...
But you know what? Never blurt out your principles in office, because they take it from you and use it against you. He is never so busy that he can't an extra task. These are things that you'll learn when you say you have years of experience. How not to make such blunders. So I have a set of postulates which I've developed with my one year of experience!
Disclaimer: I dont agree totally to most of them, so these are all just real practical postulates and people with genuine true ideologies will find it very easy to disagree
1. There is nothing called Job Satisfaction. You should get paid the way you want. If yes, satisfied! If no, unsatisfied.
2. There is nothing like a good boss. Every boss is an idiot till you become one. The only exception for that principle is you.
3. A workstation in which ONLY you can see the computer screen is the ideal workstation, regardless of the space available for work or storage.
4. Coffee and Tea means life.
5. Leave the office on time, everyday. Working extra time for extra work follows law of entropy.
6. The work remaining at 5.30 is called pending work. Its supposed to be pending and this is perfectly natural.
7. Be a good actor. Act polite.
8. Do not get angry with printers, they dont heal themselves.
9. Smile, it fools them, believe me.
Thats it! So much about offices. I can give a name to each of my postulates for easy use in contexts. But refraining from that now...

Inception? is it?

Blogs and Social Networking sites overflew with emotions and reviews the day 'Inception' was born. Was it a little over hyped? Doesn't matter. I'm not going with my review of that. My point is something very diffferent which i thought i can connect to the movie. (Do not expect anything serious)

My office timings are from 9.00 am to 5.30pm. That is 8 hours excluding half an hour lunch break. (I personally have the opinion, 8 hours of work is enough for a person for a day , The Clubs King theory says, 1 man day of work = 8 man hours of work). This 8.5 hours thingy is fed into the automated punching system, punched by a card(No, we don't like it biometric). Punching in late should be compensated by a punch out late, the same day (That's for the system. The real thing is how you deal with your boss). So there is this provision that, "If you punch in before 9.15am, you can punch out at 5.25pm". For a punch recorded at 09:15:00, punch out is at 17:25:00 for the system to mark you [Present]. BUT, for a 09:15:01 in you can go out(your card can g out) only at 17:45:01. This one second = twenty minutes is my problem. For an extra second waited in front of Signature towers traffic signal. I have to pay 20 minutes at the end of the day. Who is dreaming here? the system between 09:15:00 and 09:15:01? or me? whenever I'm spending that extra second in a traffic block? I hate different levels or dreams, and mostly this time lag!

Good times!

Havent been here for a while, primarily b'coz of the really great time we had in the past few weeks. It was probably the last one month of ultimate masti with friends from college. The last phase of Job training. Sometimes these HR fellows are damn right at the point(i really hate a lot of them otherwise). We are really fortunate to be in a company which can afford a one year full training. But its all over now and I'm back in my same old office, the same best cubicle, with a lot more files around! I never liked people placed in my company when i was in college. I never disliked too, but these times have done magic. The silence journey from Faridabad to Gurgaon felt like a train journey from Calicut to Kottayam. I miss all of them. Back here, same faces, my buddy missing, but with a permanent govt employee's pride! And a new world altogether!

Its Complicated!

My on-the-job training in this office is getting over soon and I am really confused on what to choose. It goes like 'I don't care' , I usually don't care about such things but here I have forces pulling me into this office and pushing me out of this office. Strong forces! Except for one project, Structural Design of a Stupid Control Room Building, had a great time here. Nice work, the kind which none of my classmates got, Good people around, comfortable life in a metro, so much for now. And nobody can ask for everything, right? The negative forces are as strong as the positive!
As of now, Faridabad has to go well. Got drinking plans with warrier. With warrier is an adjective there! Have to go places. Have to really put up all my points in the appraisal project presentation(should go better with some hangover). Lotta time, very lil things. No, its not at all complicated ...

Tag it fragile!

The babe at the check in counter stares at me like 'wtf' when I say "Tag it fragile" with such an attitude, which implicitly means, "my dear, dont break my bottles... That's for my Dad" ... And i point to my blue polo usa bag waiting for its turn to get into the conveyor ... This is a scene i see twice a month, at the IGI counter and CIAL counter. Apparently, every time, my luggage is decorated with that sticker, owing to two reasons. 1. Bottles are part my standard package of goodies when i fly from Delhi to Kochi. 2. And I take back pickles! + beef ulathiyathu...
There are times when my baggage got rejected for excess bottles and times when i had more and they never cared. There are no security norms, it depends on the mood of the guy who's doing baggage screening! Whether they care or not, my bag is gonna have that sticker for all the flys...

Can't Live without!

Yup! The first time i saw this phrase was in the 'Personal' page of a social networking site, I thought about it but never came up with anything.
But today, i have Five things that i can't live without... My Five Fs
Here we go... Flight journeys to home and back, the first and the most expensive of all:) in fact half of my every month expenses goes to some economy carrier(once i flied Kingfisher, and then i came to know why he called the others cattle class!), everyone needs a recharge, go home, but my battery aint performing well! ... Friends, the people around, who makes the world lively ... Films, must watches release every week man, i hate it but again every weekend have to give attendance in the movies 1-3 times! ... Fast Food, the so called KFC, McD nd Subway. There are experts who say i was hospitalised for a week due to them. i request those experts to start better restaurants! ... Fone calls ... desperately wanted to make it five Fs, but again, this one gets the second position in my account book! :)

Thats all Folks!
(i wanna put the link of looney toones music here, taanattattattatta ttatta ttattattataaaa)

Its only Malls, and Malls all around...

I'm talking about the millenium city of India - Gurgaon. They say there are 46 malls out here. Well, I'm a regular visitor of 6-7 of 'em. The city is one-fourth the size of Delhi, but all u see here is malls and apartments and office buildings. Well, may be thats what they mean when they call it millenium city! For those of you , who have not experienced life in malls, this is the best place. And when I say life in malls, i really mean it. When you think of chilling out, you take Ambience(biggest in India) ... For Movies and Big Bazaar, its Sahara ... For babes, MGF Metropolitan ... For shopping in lifestyle, City Centre ... For KFC, JMD Arcade ... And many more ... Why wonder when Gurgaon came up the ranks to the title of India's costliest city ... Grand Mall has a marvellous steel structure construction which gives it a leaning tower look ... http://www.snc.co.in/images/GRAND%20MALL3.jpg ... probably one reason why nobody goes there! And then there is DLF racing to build the biggest one, named Mall of India(built-up area 6 million sq ft !!!) ... Life's tuff, No place for the penniless!

Office Space

If you have seen the movie "Office Space", no, I'm not going to type that out here... If you haven't seen the movie, do watch it, its a good laugh!

My office has a lot to do with the movie, there are guys fed up with multiple bosses, fed up with printers and really fed up with the location of cubicle ...

In that context i am a blessed guy, b'coz my computer screen is facing me ... and only me... the only other person who can see my computer screen, if he tries to, is the Private Secretary of a GM, and he doesnt care about me chatting in office :) ... There was a poll recently among my batchmates about who has the best cubicle, and i came out to be the unanimous winner. Afteral there is not much of work in my company if we consider the way we work, and we need something to kill time... The the seniors dont really understand that!

Hello World!

Cant think of a better title to start with...
B'coz, after a lot of Drafts and Posting and Deletion, this time , I'm decided to write.
A test to myself if i can keep up to my determination, in many things!

I always hated the "about me" part in all the social networking sites. The confusion of somebody who has nothing so remarkable to mention about themselves. Well, right now I'm sitting in the first floor of an Indian Navratna company, precisely, the Central Transmission Utility of India, doing consultancy services worldwide. No, I'm not bored or out of work here. I'm done with my morning planning and delegated work to my draftsmen, and i don't find any new mails in my inbox. So here i am, back again, just reading my mind, thinking, i should post this and keep blogging.
Enough for a start i guess ...
I always believed, somebody has to start in a small scale for steady growth!
I'll make this short :)
